Cookie Policy
Local storage we use instead
Two optional preferences can be saved in your browser’s local storage. Unlike cookies, local storage is never sent to a server: it stays on your device and is read only by MedEquity pages in your browser. Both items are strictly functional.
| Name | Type | Purpose | What it contains | Set when | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
me-theme | localStorage | Remembers your colour theme (light, dark or system). | One word: “light”, “dark” or “system”. | Only when you use the theme switcher. | Until you clear your browser’s site data. |
me-contact-attempts | localStorage | Limits repeated contact-form submissions (anti-spam). | Timestamps of your recent form attempts — no message text, name or email. | Only when you submit the contact form. | Entries older than one hour are ignored and replaced on your next attempt; cleared when you clear site data. |
How to remove or block them
- Clear this site’s data (sometimes called “cookies and site data”) in your browser settings to delete both items.
- Private or incognito windows discard them when the window closes.
- If your browser blocks site storage, the site still works: theme choices still work but are not remembered between visits, and the contact-form limit is not applied.
Other websites
Links in articles and the source catalog lead to other websites, such as cdc.gov and nih.gov, which have their own cookie policies. The service that will host MedEquity at public launch will be named in the Privacy Policy; if it ever requires cookies, this policy will be updated first.
Changes to this policy
If MedEquity ever adds a cookie or new browser storage, it will be listed here before it is used, and the effective date above will change.
